Position: Executive Director

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Executive Director will report to the 15 member Resources for Child Caring Board of Directors. Overseeing a staff of 85 with six direct reports, the Executive Director manages an overall operating budget of approximately $9.5 million. The Executive Director is responsible for leading, directing and managing the organization in a manner consistent with the mission, vision and values of RCC, and doing so in a fiscally responsible and ethically sound manner.

As the chief executive officer, working in concert with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will engage in envisioning the future of the organization, setting the strategic direction of its activities and initiatives, and putting them into action.

The Executive Director is responsible for strategic leadership with both internal and external audiences. Specific responsibilities include:

• Ensuring that Resources for Child Caring has a clear mission, vision and direction.
• Overseeing the design, administration and evaluation of comprehensive programs that will achieve the stated goals and objectives of Resources for Child Caring.
• Ensuring the financial health of the agency.
• Keeping the Board fully informed on the condition of Resources for Child Caring so that the Board can carry out its governance function.
• Providing community leadership and advocacy to further the public knowledge, understanding and support for early care and education of children.
• Serving as the chief spokesperson for Resources for Child Caring, assuring that the agency and its mission are properly presented to its various publics.
• Effectively leading and ensuring effective management of the human resources of Resources for Child Caring.

The Executive Director will also be held accountable for the following outcomes:
• With the Chair of the Board, establish and maintain an effective Board which is diverse.
• With the Board, establish a clear mission/vision for the agency.
• Utilize both Board and staff to get the best thinking possible applied to the strategic decisions of the agency.
• Effectively manage the agency and keep the Board fully informed of critical events, trends, and opportunities that will help the Board make better policies and plans.
• Keep RCC solvent and develop sufficient resources to allow the agency to offer reasonable levels of service to the community over time.
• Hire and nurture good employees and volunteers.
• Educate and advocate to the community regarding RCC’s mission.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate for this position is a seasoned and visionary professional with an active curiosity regarding early childhood policy issues. The successful candidate will be a person of integrity and stature in the community with proven leadership and senior management experience, exemplary business and/or nonprofit management skills, and a strong commitment to raising the standard of care for children. Community relations and partnerships, fundraising and board development are all key components of this challenging role.

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required with a Master’s degree preferred. Knowledge of early childhood development and education is a key qualification for the position. Other essential skills and experience include:

• A proven track record of success in a professional environment. Experience in leading, building and growing an organization is highly desirable.

• Big picture thinker – ability to think strategically about achieving the RCC’s goals.

• Highly developed skills in leadership, communication, management, negotiation, advocacy, and creative methods of coaching, teaching and team development.

• The ability to attract financial resources for the organization and promote a marketing culture from within by identifying and implementing strong program plans and strategies that attract revenue.

• The knowledge and experience to motivate, coach and develop staff and volunteers to meet objectives including anticipating challenges, identifying issues and developing solutions.

• Ability to work effectively on a collaborative basis with a wide range of constituencies and stakeholders in a diverse community.

The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and competitive with similar nonprofits. Title: HIV Prevention Case Manager

Reports to: Director of Membership Services

Supervises: HIV Prevention Program Volunteers & Peer Educator(s)

Purpose: The purpose of the HIV Prevention Case Manager position is to provide HIV prevention

case management, short-term counseling and outreach services for members of The Aliveness Project.

Responsibilities:

A. Coordinate HIV Prevention Program for individuals living with HIV/AIDS who use The Aliveness

Project's programs and services.

B. Provide HIV prevention case management services to individuals living with HIV/AIDS who need

help in dealing with barriers related to chemical dependency, mental illness, housing, etc.

C. Provide short-term individual counseling, HIV prevention education, and referrals to community

resources for individuals living with HIV/AIDS.

D. Conduct and coordinate outreach activities (distribution of condoms, safer sex kits, bleach kits,

educational materials, etc.) for HIV Prevention Program

E. Work collaboratively with other staff to provide advocacy and referrals for appropriate services for

case management clients.

F. Supervise peer educator(s) and coordinate other program activities.

G. Coordinate HIV Speaker Bureau for presentations at our facility and at community/workplace sites.

H. Complete and maintain records and reports required for government grants and other funders.

I. Other duties, as assigned.

Desired Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field and/or at least one year of experience in HIV/AIDS field; or a

combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.

Qualifications:

A. Previous experience in case management, education, community development, and/or social

services related to HIV/AIDS.

B. Experience demonstrating capacities as a case manager, community organizer, public health

educator, community educator or related professional experience.

C. A demonstrated ability to address HIV/AIDS prevention issues and previous experience working

with individuals living with HIV/AIDS.

D. Previous experience working with gay/bisexual men, people of color, injecting drug users, and/or

homeless and low-income populations.

E. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good organizational skills.

F. Good interpersonal skills; must enjoy working with diverse groups of people.

G. Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.

H. Previous experience using PC computer systems (Microsoft Word, Access, Excel), Internet, and email

programs.

Hours: 40 hours per week, including evening and weekend hours.

Salary: $29,000-31,000.00/year, depending on previous experience. Benefits include health

Founded in 2002, ADC helps African immigrants and refugees become economically successful through its three core programs, offered in eight different languages: 1. Business Development: We provide start-up and on-going business development assistance, training and information in key areas, such as business plans, accounting, marketing, management, business law), and regular and Islamic financing. 2. Home Ownership Training: We deliver culturally sensitive educational workshops, counseling, and related support services to assist African immigrants in purchasing, financing and maintaining a home. 3. Financial Literacy: We enhance African immigrants' understanding of American financial systems and services through our culturally appropriate financial literacy campaign in such areas as credit card and debt management, budgeting, banking and saving. Community Economic Development Coordinator: Full-Time Responsible for expanding ADC services into targeted Minnesota communities outside of the Twin Cities area by connecting with local community development corporations (CDC’s) and other community agencies to offer business development, financial literacy and homeownership services to the African community. 1. Researches, identifies, contacts and develops professional relationships with Community Development Corporations, Chambers of Commerce and other agencies in target areas whose missions complement the mission of ADC. 2. Identifies and trains local African talent in target areas to provide business development, financial literacy and homeowner services to the African community. 3. Participates in and serves as a pivotal resource in the implementation of business development, financial literacy and homeownership educational programs in target communities. 4.
