Kirette Couture and Living Measure Partner to Raise Child Sexploitation Awareness

 By NdzeNtuv Evaristus Tunka

In today’s world, sexual exploitation of children is a common phenomenon that has more and more become the number one issue plaguing third world nations, especially African and Asian nations. In 2008, a UNESCO research found out that over one thousand young African girls were exploited sexually annually. While this figure remains alarming, African leaders are doing nothing to address the issue of sexual exploitation among its youth across the globe.

It was against this backdrop that Living Measure, a non-governmental and charitable organization, partnered with fashion house Kirette Couture for the “Threads for a cause” event, that saw the raising of funds to help combat the sexploitation of children in Africa.

To reiterate this dire need to combat and raise awareness against the exploitation of young African youths, Kibone Nfi, CEO of Kirette Couture talking to the press said with utmost disdain, that  “Sexual exploitation is an issue which urgently needs addressing and fighting this injustice is something Living Measure and Kirette Couture were vacillating to see to the end”.

Asked why she decided to use fashion to relay her message, Kibone in her dynamism noted that fashion unites individuals and as such partnering with Living Measure to raise awareness of the sexual exploitation of young girls around the world presented a unique platform that allowed fashion to be used as an informative tool of what most young African girls go through.

Over the years, sexual exploitation of young African girls has become an increasing problem, and Wednesday’s event, sought to raise funds to be able to provide victims with a gamut of stanchion that would include shelter, and educational services.

The event which was not just about glamour in reaffirming the cause and plight of youths, in the African continent, was also graced by the magnificent routine and artistry of up coming African musician WAX, whose solemnity in music choice not only moved the audience, but also inspired other upcoming artists on the importance of genuity and frankness in combating public ill.
