Tropical Storm Gaston was moving slowly over the central tropical Atlantic, forecasters said. Gaston, with sustained winds of 40 mph, was about 965 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands and about 1,550 miles east of the Lesser Antilles, the hurricane center said. Tropical Storm Gaston has begun to slow down over the Atlantic. Gaston is centered about 935 miles off the Cape Verde islands. Maximum sustained winds are about 40 mph. Some gradual strengthening is forecast over the next 48 hours.
