Sunderland has broken its transfer record to sign Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan from French club Rennes on a four-year contract. The Premier League side's website says that it paid "in excess of 13 million pounds" ($20 million) for the 24-year-old Gyan as the transfer window closed Tuesday.
